Is tinting car windows legal?

Most people assume that tinting car windows is illegal. But, in fact, it’s perfectly legal in Australia. There are a few laws though and you must comply with the rules set out by your states transport authority. These requirements are set out to make sure that drivers have the best possible vision of the road and other road users. Be aware that these car window tinting requirements can differ between states so consider this when driving or moving from one state to the other.

What is the darkest legal tint in victoria?

For some people, the darkest legal tint possible is better. However, you still need to follow the laws. Not only can you be pulled over and receive a ticket, but you won’t receive a roadworthy, and also your insurance company won’t payout in the case of an accident.

In addition, there are different maximum darkest tints allowed based on your rear windows, side windows and front windscreen.

Our tinting experts are fully aware of all the rules and regulations when it comes to car tints so reach out anytime so you avoid disappointment in the future.

We have an article
“What is the darkest legal tint in Melbourne, Victoria?”, which gives all the details you need and explains VLT – visible light transmission. It can be a little confusing so feel free to reach out via email or phone for help!

How much does car window tinting cost?

The price for car window tinting can vary based on a few factors. The type of film you choose, how many windows are you tinting, whether are we removing existing tint and finally, the make and model of your car.

For this reason, it’s better to call us or request a quote so these questions can be answered and an accurate amount can be provided.

Types of WIndow Tint Films Used by Talktint

There are many types of car window tinting film on the market. Some of these include metalized , dyed, carbon and ceramic film. With 19 years of experience & knowledge in the industry Talktint provide 2 options for our customers.

Dyed film which is made of a thin layer of plastic that is dyed with a colour. It is not as reflective as the metalized film, but it is less expensive. It can block up to 99% of the sun’s UV rays. It will fade over time depending on its environment however, it is our less expensive option for the budget-concerned customer.

Ceramic film is the latest non-metal technology and offers outstanding heat protection (reduction of heat entering your car). It is more durable and never fades, and provides 99% UV protection. Yes, it’s a little more expensive but if your budget allows it, it’s well worth the investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes it does. Depending on the film you choose it can block as much as 99% of harmful UV rays from the sun.

Do I need to wait to roll my windows down?

We recommend that you leave your vehicle windows rolled up for at least 24 hours after window film has been installed. This allows the film to cure and adhere to the glass before the window is moved.

Parking your car outside in the sun will help the film dry faster. The tinted window will dry faster in summer than winter .

To be on the extreme safe side we usually say 48 hours to our customers.

Do not scratch the windows film with things like keys, nails or by flicking your seatbelt at the window.

Dogs in the back scratching the window inside is also something you should be aware of.

Car window tinting film is always applied to the inside of a window. This prevents damage from flying debris or outside environmental conditions.

Currently we don’t provide this service of coming to you and installing car window tint. To get the best results and reduce any dust and dirt from getting stuck under the film while applying windows tint, we need a closed=off area free of dust , dirt and wind. We have a dedicated workshop where all our car window tinting is installed.

When it comes to window tinting, cheap car window tinting is not always better. In fact, opting for a cheaper film product can end up costing you more money in the long run. Cheaper films are more likely to fade and peel over time, meaning that you’ll have to redo your tinting job sooner. In addition, cheaper films are often of poorer quality, which can lead to bubbles and other imperfections. Not only is this unsightly, but it can also reduce your visibility while driving. For all these reasons, it’s best to invest in a high-quality film product that will last for years to come. Though the initial cost may be higher, you’ll save money in the long run by avoiding the need for frequent repairs or replacements.

Talktint use a range of films from Suntek to suit every budget. Suntek have been around for over 60 years and are well known for their innovation & industry experience. They are recognised as a high end film and their film comes with a lifetime warranty!

Absolutely amazing place, can't talk highly enough of Trent and his professional team. I have been to a fair few places in the last 4 years and everyone has advised sorry we can't tint your car it's already been tinted even the boot can't be done as it will damage the filament on the window. Spoke to Courtney and advised are you serious, this has privacy glass, its really easy to peel of and do. So Absolutely wraped with the outcome and professionalism of Talk Tint, it certainly pays off of being in the right place at the right time, these guys are legends, don't hesitate to speak to the gang at Talk Tint, they can do anything your heart desires
